Imagine being totally blind at an event and needing to go to the lady's room. You walk in, and the next thing you hear is a low voice saying, "I don't think you girls want to be in here."
Amber Messmer just laughed it off, but bathrooms that are not labeled with Braille for people who are blind can present a problem.
She plans on tackling society's problems because she's studying to be a criminal trial lawyer.
You will absolutely LOVE her Creamy Chicken Enchilada recipe which you can find on our website: www.cookingwithoutlookingtv.wordpress.com .

Christina Holtzclaw has been a trailblazer and advocate even before she knew what it meant.
Blind since birth, she was the first blind student in her public school. They didn't have Braille, or anything for a blind child so they had to learn from her on what was needed.
When the Americans with Disability Act was passed, she was in college.
She's worked her way through employment beginning as a piece worker, and to this day as a CEO of an Independent Living Center.

Two pieces of advice that Matt Delaplane has for visually impaired people when they are cooking are: Be relaxed, and know where everything is.
Matt was blind since birth. He started off at a regular public school, and then transferred to a school for the blind in Janesville, Wisconsin. He got teased in both places, and he says there has to be a time when you just put a stop to it.
If you are tired of the same old baked bean recipe, try Matt's Apple Baked Beans.

No matter the obstacle, you can get through it!
That's the mantra that Flo Dudek, administrator of The Blind Side of Cooking With Flo on Facebook, lives by.
After multiple surgeries on her head including brain surgery, she lost most of her vision, and much of her hearing. But, she carries on, often inspired by her dad who lived a full life with polio.
Flo's got a special tip on how to get your kids to eat veggies, and how to make hot dogs taste extra special in an air fryer. You will love her Sriracha Burger which you can find on our website: www.cookingwithoutlookingtv.wordpress.com

Mary Sanders has been blind since birth.
She's been through a myriad of schools---both public schools and schools for the deaf and the blind. She was taught that she wasn't allowed to use her blindness as an excuse for not doing chores such as laundry and cooking.
Find out who was better at teaching cooking: a sighted teacher or blind teacher. Learn how she makes her hot, hot, hot crockpot chili.

You may be blind, but you have to find a vision for yourself.
Jane Butler went blind in the prime of her life. At first, she just sat and let others bring her food, give her rides and help her out. But, that got old fast...
So, she decided to pick herself up, and figured out what she would do for others. Jane now volunteers for several organizations as well as her church.
