Dan Lohr has been blind since birth. At the ripe old age of five, he went to a special away-from-home blind school. He had to make the same decision for his two children who are low vision. Although his experience was good, he and his wife decided to send their children to a neighborhood school.
Dan's advice to people who find themselves going blind: Don't stop living. It's not the end of your world.
Discover a new world of flavor with his favorite chili recipe. You can find his recipe on our website www.cookingwithoutlookingtv.wordpress.com .

One day, Charlene Borkus decided to make her family something special for Christmas: Pierogies...basically, Polish ravioli. But, she didn't realize that when she started to prepare them, it began with 13 cups of flour! She had enough pierogis for her family, and probably a small nearby town!
Charlene is visually impaired, and is a teacher of special needs children with sensory issues. She thinks outside of the box, even changing the way her classroom is lit. Her students have a special bond with her because as a child, her vision impairment made it difficult in school. Charlene understands that, and goes the extra mile to meet her students at the intersection of their special needs and learning abilities.
Her Chicken Pot Pie recipe will make you feel right at home. Please go to our website at www.cookingwithoutlookingtv.wordpress.com ,and give it a try!

Amber Messmer just laughed it off, but bathrooms that are not labeled with Braille for people who are blind can present a problem.
She plans on tackling society's problems because she's studying to be a criminal trial lawyer.

Christina Holtzclaw has been a trailblazer and advocate even before she knew what it meant.
Blind since birth, she was the first blind student in her public school. They didn't have Braille, or anything for a blind child so they had to learn from her on what was needed.
When the Americans with Disability Act was passed, she was in college.
She's worked her way through employment beginning as a piece worker, and to this day as a CEO of an Independent Living Center.
