Everyone in Life should learn how to fall. That's what Brian Bushway believes...especially after falling eight feet straight down a hill while riding his mountain bike...blind.
Brian lost his sight when he was 14. His father and mother, along with his sisters made space for Brian to lead the way, and to teach them how to be with a person who's blind. He now teaches professional athletes how to use all of their senses to make them perform even better at Acoustic Athletics.
Brian LOVES to cook because, as he says, it gives him the chance to be perceived as the caregiver and not the care receiver.

What do you do when you're not totally blind, but are legally blind and people don't understand? Ben Fox created Almostblind.org
"A nice guy insisted I take his seat on a full train. I thanked him, sat down and checked a text message on my phone. The man's friend saw this and said, "Hey, he's not blind". I went home right away and made this website and shirts and hats that say: Almost Blind.org" -Ben Fox
More than 90% of legally blind people can still have some small or limited vision. The White Cane keeps them safe.

Dan Lohr has been blind since birth. At the ripe old age of five, he went to a special away-from-home blind school. He had to make the same decision for his two children who are low vision. Although his experience was good, he and his wife decided to send their children to a neighborhood school.

One day, Charlene Borkus decided to make her family something special for Christmas: Pierogies...basically, Polish ravioli. But, she didn't realize that when she started to prepare them, it began with 13 cups of flour! She had enough pierogis for her family, and probably a small nearby town!
Charlene is visually impaired, and is a teacher of special needs children with sensory issues. She thinks outside of the box, even changing the way her classroom is lit. Her students have a special bond with her because as a child, her vision impairment made it difficult in school. Charlene understands that, and goes the extra mile to meet her students at the intersection of their special needs and learning abilities.
Her Chicken Pot Pie recipe will make you feel right at home. Please go to our website at www.cookingwithoutlookingtv.wordpress.com ,and give it a try!
